Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seaside, Oregon
Specialty: Registered Nurse (PACU and Pre-Anesthesia Combined Unit)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position floats between units.
- On-call required: Typically 2 days a week plus some weekends on rotation.
- Weekend work required as part of call shift rotation (Friday 0630 to Monday 0630).
- No block schedules required.
- Patient ratios vary based on blended pre-anesthesia/PACU environment; staffing determined by patient acuity and clinical judgment in alignment with ASPAN standards and state regulations.
- Call is shared equally among RNs.
- 48-hour shifts are not approved.

Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in PACU and Pre-Anesthesia care.
- Must be proficient in both pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia care.

- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable).
- NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years, if applicable).
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable).
- NURSYS Verification for RN license.
- State License: Must hold a valid Oregon RN license.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years. Includes SSN trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide and County checks, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable), and Oregon Abuse/Neglect search if required.
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report.
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format; gaps or overlaps must be explained.
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting.
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work.
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Immunizations & Health Documents:
- TDAP (within 10 years) or declination accepted.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer or declination.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer or declination.
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
- COVID vaccine or declination.
- Respirator Safety Clearance: Required for travel candidates, medically cleared annually.
- Fit Mask: Required for travel candidates, updated annually; onsite testing available if needed.
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Floating: May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
- Call shifts: Typically 2 days per week plus some weekends on rotation.
- Call shift timing: Weekday call starts between 1530-1800 and ends at 0600; weekend call from Friday 0630 to Monday 0630.
Training & Competency Requirements
- Must complete Providence-specific WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Core regulatory requirements annually.
- Specialty-specific modules for PACU and Perioperative nursing.
- Facility-specific orientation and Epic training modules.
- Competency exams as applicable (medication, pharmacology, fetal heart rate monitoring, etc.).
- Color Blind Testing if required by unit.
Additional Notes
- This position uses Epic for charting.
- Scrubs are flexible in color except OR/L&D where scrubs are provided.
- Parking is free.
