Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Largo, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: January 26, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:30 - 08:00)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
Patient Population: Adult/Geriatric
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
Unit Census: Average 26 patients, 32 beds/rooms
Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
On-Call: No scheduled on-call requirements

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Licenses & Certifications Required

• Maryland RN State License
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not mandatory

Additional Requirements & Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80%+)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
• Competency Exam (score 80%+)
• Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80%+)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80%+)

Background & Compliance Checks

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification for highest level completed
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • TB (negative test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required Oct 6 - Mar 31)
• COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking

Documentation & Onboarding

• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start required
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Verification of previous 5 years of work history (attestation accepted if necessary)
• Photo for badge (passport style with solid white/beige background)
• Signed job description and confidentiality agreement prior to start
• Completion of Portfolio Epic Training Test Out Form if applicable
• Security ID application to be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
• Dress code review prior to start
• Latex Allergy Questionnaire completion required

This position offers a structured night shift ICU role with a focus on adult and geriatric patients, requiring solid critical care experience and multiple certifications. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for first-time travel nurses.
