    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Seattle, Washington
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Position Overview

    • Float required
    • EPIC system experience required
    • Not accepting first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
    • Perm candidates from other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) eligible if separated for at least 3 months
    • Active compact license honored at all Swedish facilities

    Patient Population & Unit Details

    • Patient Diagnoses:

      • Pre-Op for inpatients and outpatients
      • Phase II Recovery ending with discharge home
      • General surgery: laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, bowel resection, BKA, AKA, vascular procedures, plastics, mandibular surgery, eye procedures, gynecology, dental, thoracic (no open hearts), podiatry, ortho
      • Occasionally pre-op for cath lab (vascular procedures only) and endoscopy
      • Approximately 3-4% pediatrics; travelers not assigned to pediatrics unless they have pediatric experience
    • Special Procedures/Unit Details:

      • Pre-op for cath lab (vascular procedures only) and endoscopy
      • Units include ENT, Eyes, General Surgery, OB-GYN, Plastics, Post-Op, Pre-Op, Robotic, Thoracic, Transplant, Vascular
      • Breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP

    Required Skills & Competencies

    • Work Settings: Ambulatory/Outpatient, Inpatient, Phase II Recovery, Pre-Post Op (all required)
    • Cardiac Monitoring: Dysrhythmia recognition/management (required)
    • Surgery Cases (required): ENT, General, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics (including Spine and Total Joints), Urology
    • Surgery Cases (preferred): Cardiac, Plastics, Podiatry, Robotics, Thoracic, Transplant
    • Medications: Narcotics/Opioid analgesics, reversal agents (required)
    • Pre/Post Op Care: Discharge instructions, pre/post operative procedures, pre-op assessment, pre-op education, pre-op medications (required)
    • Professional Topics: Pain assessment and management

    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience
    • Prior travel experience required (unit does not accept first-time travelers)

    Certifications

    • BLS (Required)
    • ACLS (Preferred)

    Additional Information

    • Scrubs provided
    • Float policy: May be required to float to another Providence facility within a reasonable distance
    • Background checks, drug screening, and various health documents required (see below)

    Compliance & Documentation Requirements

    Background Checks & Verifications

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
    • Education verification required for all candidates (nursing degree verification for RNs)
    • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
    • State-specific searches required for Washington placements
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required

    Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required, updated annually
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted)
    • Hepatitis B: vaccination series or signed declination
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted)
    • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
    • COVID vaccine or declination required
    • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use

    Competency Exams & Training

    • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
    • Competency exams required as applicable by specialty
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification or exam required for L&D RNs
    • Color blind testing may be required on a unit basis

    Facility & System Specific Training

    • EPIC training required and must be completed prior to or shortly after start
    • Providence WorkRamp modules (core, specialty, regulatory, and regional) required annually or as specified
    • Photo for badge not required for this facility

    Summary
