Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years in PCU plus ICU experience required (higher of any stated requirements)
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Must float within scope to 3 nearby hospitals (within 20 miles)
  • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Pending license accepted
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 40 hours for 8/10 shifts
  • Epic experience level 3 or 4 required
  • Familiarity with cardiac drips required
  • Time-sensitive training modules must be prioritized

Certifications Required

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) - must have at time of submission
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - must have at time of submission
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) - must be obtained prior to start

  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrub Color: White
  • Smoke-Free Facility: All travelers must be nicotine-free (negative 10 panel drug screen including nicotine required)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Government issued photo ID required during hours of service
  • E-Verify proof or attestation
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance)
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10 panel drug screen including nicotine within 1 year of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed with approved documentation)
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
  • Two professional references within 2 years of start required
  • Employment application and skills checklist updated annually

Additional Notes

  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; late requests likely will not be approved
  • Candidates must complete online onboarding modules prior to start; modules are high priority and cannot be delayed
  • Candidates must be nicotine-free with negative drug screen results including cotinine
  • Facility issues radiation badges if applicable
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

This position is ideal for RNs with PCU and ICU experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, teaching hospital environment with Epic charting and cardiac care responsibilities.
