Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med Surg)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Average Daily Census: 21 patients
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 for days, nights, and weekends
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: Will float within scope to other Med Surg and similar units as needed
- Block Scheduling: Not available, but typically can schedule 3 shifts in a row
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- On-call: Not required
- License: Must have an active Illinois nursing license in hand to apply
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

- Cardiovascular: Post Angiogram, Post MI care
- Endocrine/Metabolic: IV insulin protocols
- Gastrointestinal: Colostomy care, feeding tube management
- Genitourinary/Renal: Pre/Post Hemodialysis management, renal failure care
- IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV starts
- Medications: Heparin, Insulin, PCA
- Neurological/Psychiatric: CVA, pre/post neurosurgery care
- Orthopedic Trauma: Preferred
- Surgical Drain Care: Preferred
- Respiratory: Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
- Professional Knowledge: Isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac
- Other Preferences: Previous charge nurse experience, Cerner charting experience, Level I trauma experience
