Endoscopy Travel Job Opportunity

Location: Rapid City, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Experience

• RN: Minimum 2 years, with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience
• Endoscopy Tech: Minimum 1 year

Prior Travel Experience:

• First-time travelers are generally not accepted without prior approval.
• Travelers must live more than 100 miles from the facility.
• Permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler.

Patient Types

• Upper & Lower Endoscopy including advanced procedures:

  • EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound)
  • EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound)
  • ERCP
  • EGD and Colonoscopy
• Pre and Post Recovery (Phase I and Phase II), including some ICU-level care

Patient Ratios

• Endoscopy: 1:1
• Pre-Op: 1:2
• PACU Phase I: 1:1 or 1:2 (based on acuity)
• PACU Phase II: 1:2-3

Required Certifications

• RN: BLS, ACLS
• Endoscopy Tech: BLS

Required Education

• RN: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse license in South Dakota
• Endoscopy Tech: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited program preferred

Skills Required

• RN:

  • Experience with Endoscopy including advanced procedures (EUS, EBUS, ERCP)
  • Anesthesia provides sedation
• Endoscopy Tech:

  • Comfortable performing advanced Endoscopy procedures (EUS, EBUS, ERCP, stenting, and other advanced interventional GI procedures)
  • Processing scopes for the department; staff rotate through different tasks weekly

Unit Support

• Endoscopy team includes 6 RNs/Endo Techs
• Anesthesia provides 100% sedation coverage

Charting System / Equipment

• EPIC electronic health record
• ION robot (robotic-assisted bronchoscopy)
• Omnicell medication system
• Alaris infusion pumps

Floating

• Floating as needed to Pre-Op, PACU, or Floor for helping hands
• Will not float to Main OR as primary RN

Orientation

• 1 week orientation on facility and unit

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• On-call one overnight per week (7pm-7am) and every 3rd weekend

  • Sleep room available in Pre-Op/PACU area
  • 15-minute response time required
• Variable shifts may include 8-hour shifts with one weekday call and every 3rd weekend on call
• Possible shift times: 6:30am-3:00pm, 7:30am-4:00pm, 8:30am-5:00pm, 9:00am-6:00pm
• Holiday coverage: 2 out of 4 major holidays expected
• Time off requires manager approval; may volunteer for low census without pay
