Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Oregon, Salem

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
  • Location: Salem, Oregon
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 x 10-hour shifts (variable start times: 07:00-17:30, 09:00-19:30, 11:00-21:30)
  • Additional Shifts: Weekday night call shifts (8 hours, 23:00-07:00), weekend scheduled and call shifts (10-12 hours)
  • Schedule: 5-6 shifts of call and/or weekend scheduled shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (1st time travelers allowed)

Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred (AHA only)
  • Other Preferred Certifications:
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred prior to start for PACU
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) preferred for Pediatrics
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred for ER
  • State License: Must have valid Oregon RN license or meet Oregon 90-day waiver requirements
  • NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start

Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit
  • Competency exams required with passing scores (e.g., 80% for general competency, 85% for Dysrhythmia/EKG interpretation where applicable)

Required Documents & Checks

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID (passport acceptable if no driver’s license)
  • Criminal Background Check (7-year search, within 90 days of start)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (within 30 days of start and ongoing)
  • Education Verification (required for non-licensed providers; RN verification required)
  • Transcript or diploma may be accepted in lieu of education verification
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (can start with physical pending)
  • Drug testing (10-panel, within 90 days of start)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Required immunizations or titers with boosters or declinations as applicable:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (year-round requirement)
  • Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within first week of start (not required for some non-clinical roles)

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty; at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months
  • Badge photo required at least 8 days prior to start (white background)
  • Completion of required HealthStream modules by due date (varies by unit)
  • Compliance with facility dress code and policies

This position offers a variable schedule with a mix of day shifts, night call, and weekend shifts, suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in the specialty. Prior travel experience is not required, making it accessible for first-time travel nurses.
