Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel/contract assignment in an acute care setting.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting and in a similar area to the pending assignment.
- References: 2 references required from employment within one year of start, from a Manager, ANM, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director (co-worker references not accepted).
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or American Red Cross; RQI acceptable. Must be current or renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for most clinical areas except CVOR, OR, Pediatric OR, Ambulatory Care, and Behavioral Health. Must be current or renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, ER, Pediatric OR; preferred but not required for PACU. Must be current or renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for Labor & Delivery, OB/GYN, and NICU. Must be current or renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred but not required for ER.
- NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred for multiple units; must be current or renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
- State Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days of start. License must be valid and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for all nursing positions except OR; not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts.
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for all bedside RNs except OR; completed onsite during orientation.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to perform essential job functions and Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
- Fit Mask (N95): Required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Must use approved 3M N95 models. PAPRs may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Vaccine required every 10 years; religious and medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case (declinations not accepted).
- TB Testing: True 2-Step PPD or QGold/TSPOT within 12 months of start, updated annually. For past positives, chest X-ray and TB questionnaire required annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; booster required if titers negative/equivocal. Exemptions reviewed case-by-case (declinations not accepted).
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination required with official documentation.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; booster required if titers negative/equivocal. Exemptions reviewed case-by-case (declinations not accepted).
- Drug Testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually. Instant drug screens not accepted.
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31) or approved medical/religious exemption. Declinations not accepted.
Background and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search and education verification. Must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Must be completed under nursing-specific code. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite. Candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
Onboarding and Training
- Completion of all required online training modules prior to clearance to start. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
- Pass/Fail EKG and medication testing completed onsite during orientation.
- Skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required annually.
Additional Notes
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care.
- Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need to update physical exam, chest X-ray, and eye exam.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
