Registered Nurse (PICU) - Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse
• Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
• Weekends: Rotating
• Call: Not required
• Floating: Required; may float to Pediatrics and NICU if census is low
• EMR System: Allscripts/Paragon

Experience & Licensure

• Required Specialty Experience: 2 years preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Licensure: Louisiana State RN license or Compact RN license required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Additional Requirements

• Background check: 7-year criminal history check within a year of start, updated annually
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and conscious sedation (for PICU)
• Annual completion of orientation safety manual and clinical onboarding exam
• Compliance with facility-specific policies including dress code, confidentiality agreements, and TB questionnaire
• Health documents required:

  • Physical exam (initial and annual)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening (9-panel, within last 12 months)
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions must be submitted for review

• Locals are accepted for this travel/contract position
• Must be prepared to float to related pediatric units as needed
• Annual updates and compliance with all required certifications and health documents are mandatory
