Job Opportunity: RN Supervisor

Location: Fairview, Pennsylvania
Facility Type: Long-Term Care (LTC) / Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)

  • Specialty: RN Supervisor
  • Required Experience: Prior PCC (PointClickCare) experience
  • Experience measuring wounds (measurement only; staging done by NP)
  • Prior travel experience: Not specified (assumed not required)

Unit/Department Details

  • Facility has 300 total beds divided into 6 units:
    • A: 47 beds
    • C: 50 beds (Covid unit, currently closed)
    • G: 59 beds
    • H: 40-bed secure dementia unit
    • J: 59 beds
    • K: 45 beds
  • EMR system: PCC
  • RN Supervisor is out of staffing grid (not assigned direct resident care)
  • Majority of floor nurses are LPNs

Staffing & Shifts

  • Days:
    • 3 Nurse Managers assigned to 2 units Monday-Friday
    • Weekends: 1 Nurse Manager oversees all units
    • Each unit staffed with 2 nurses (1 Charge Nurse, 1 Med/Treatment Nurse), possibly 3 if staffing allows
    • Nurses include both RNs and LPNs
  • Evenings:
    • 1 RN Supervisor plus floor nurses (LPN or RN)
    • 2 additional nurses per unit (Charge Nurse and Med/Treatment Nurse)
  • Nights:
    • 1 RN Supervisor as staffing allows
    • 1 floor nurse (RN or LPN) per unit
    • Currently using 5 of 6 units; one floor nurse may split between two largest units (J & K)

Job Duties

  • Serve as building supervisor during evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Oversee floor RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
  • Not assigned direct resident care tasks
  • Serve as resource for staff throughout shift
  • Monitor change of condition and resident issues
  • Schedule outside services (labs, portable x-ray, etc.)
  • Contact MD/NP for resident needs/issues
  • RN-only tasks: central line care, chest tube care/management, IV starts, admission orders, fall assessments

Patient Population

  • Residents 18+ years old
  • Accepts LTC, skilled, rehab, dementia residents
  • Hospice care accepted with 2 dedicated hospice rooms

Clinical Information

  • IVs/titratable drips: Lasix, Bumex, antibiotics
  • No telemetry monitors or RN strip reading
  • May participate in care plan meetings, especially for short-term stay residents
  • No Respiratory Therapist on-site 24/7
  • Oxygen therapy and equipment used: CPAP, BiPAP, O2, nebulizers, INH, trach with/without humidifier
  • No ventilators accepted

Interdisciplinary Team

  • PT, OT, SLP
  • Case Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians
  • Pulmonary or Cardiac Rehab available

Physician Availability

  • House MD and NP available by phone after hours
  • Contact through DON, manager, or RN supervisor outside regular business hours

Pharmacy

  • On-site pharmacy Monday-Friday during business hours
  • Medications administered from pill bottles (no dispensing system)
  • RN Supervisor has access to emergency drug closet when pharmacy is closed

Scheduling & Work Requirements

  • Shift length: 8.25 hours with 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend, with option to work more
  • Holiday requirement: Yes, scheduled 2 weeks in advance, work if holiday falls on scheduled day
  • No call or standby required
  • No floating; position covers entire building
  • Dress code: Clean, professional scrubs of any color except camo
  • Orientation: 3 days

This position is ideal for an experienced RN Supervisor comfortable managing a large LTC/SNF facility during off-peak hours with strong leadership and clinical skills.
