Nursing Contract Opportunity

Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 18 weeks

Position Summary

  • Provide professional nursing care based on Ambulatory Care standards, ASPAN, and AORN guidelines during pre-operative, post-operative, and patient transfer phases.
  • Focus on preoperative, pre-procedure, post-operative, and post-procedure care, including outpatient services for medical, oncology, surgical, emergency/inpatient add-on cases, Phase II recovery, and gastroenterology patients.
  • Utilize the nursing process: assess patient needs, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes for patients ranging from neonate to geriatric populations.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • Current American Heart Association certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Proof of successful completion of an EKG course preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of ASPAN and AORN standards of care.
  • Ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias and life-threatening emergencies and respond appropriately.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to provide safe patient care in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective team member and liaison between patients and staff.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with high mental and emotional tolerance when dealing with ill patients, families, and coworkers.
