Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with a Neuroscience ICU background for a 10-bed Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) caring for critically ill stroke patients and neurosurgery/neuro-endovascular surgery patients aged 18 and older. The unit also serves as an overflow for medical patients.

Key Skills & Clinical Experience
- Strong experience with:
- EVD (External Ventricular Drain)
- ICP (Intracranial Pressure) monitoring
- Angiogram post care
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
- Carotid procedures
- Embolizations
- Post-operative neurosurgery and neuro-endovascular surgery care including:
- IV and/or IA tPA administration
- Mechanical thrombectomy
- AVM repair
- Aneurysm repair
- Carotid stenting
- Craniotomy
- Ventilator management
- Hemodynamic monitoring
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- EPIC experience required
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Flexibility to rotate day/night shifts preferred
- One hardship shift depending on assignment timeframe
- Weekends: Every other weekend (EOW)
- Holidays: As needed
- Floating: May be asked to float to other ICUs if needed
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Call: Not required
- May care for COVID patients
- Tobacco and fragrance-free facility
Unit Information
- 10-bed Neurosurgical ICU
- Patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, non-traumatic neurosurgery, and neurology patients
- Provides advanced neurocritical care and post-operative management
Required Documentation & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check (including PA State Police PATCH)
- PA FBI fingerprinting (must be completed within 1 year of start)
- E-Verify or attestation
- Education verification (highest level)
- Physical exam within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and titers:
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or full vaccine series)
- TDAP within 10 years
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive titers)
- Varicella (vaccines or positive titer)
- Flu vaccine or valid exemption during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine or valid exemption/declination
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (Aya requirement only)
- Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually
- Professional references: 2 required within 3 years
- Skills checklist: Annual requirement
- Performance evaluations completed onsite during assignment
- Various facility-specific documents including photo for badge, code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, and health & wellness commitments
Additional Notes
- Candidates will undergo a clinical prescreen and manager interview
- Must be able to provide a clear, professional photo for badge
- Facility requires compliance with multiple background checks and health documentation prior to and during assignment
- Candidates may be required to complete online learning modules and new hire orientation
This position is ideal for experienced Neuro ICU nurses comfortable with advanced neurocritical care and flexible scheduling in a travel/contract role.
