Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Possible Extension: Yes
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (including weekdays and weekends)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2 (acuity-based; may include overflow patients requiring step-down level care)
- EMR System: Cerner
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 2+ years of experience in specialty (defaulting to higher requirement)
Must have experience with:
- Direct fresh open-heart admissions from OR
- Cardiac surgery skills
- Swan-Ganz catheter management
- Impella device monitoring
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
- Activated Clotting Time (ACT) experience (mandatory)
Prior travel experience: Not required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BCLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Other certifications may be required depending on specialty and unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC)
Schedule Notes
- Blocked schedules considered only if requesting weekends only (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)
- Scrubs are not provided
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Candidates must provide the following prior to start:
- Proof of RN license verification
- Specialty-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
- Minimum 2 clinical/manager references within past 2 years
- Proof of required certifications (no pending certificates allowed)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Government-issued photo ID
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- E-Verify or attestation
- Transcript/Diploma (required for Cath Lab RNs)
- Physical exam (initial and updated annually)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within required timeframes)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella titer or vaccination
- Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Drug testing (10 panel within 30 days of start, updated annually)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of Care Learning Modules prior to start
- Completion of Cerner Learning Training Modules prior to orientation
- ReadySet (RS) Surveys (online health assessment paperwork) completed by deadline
- Photo for badge prior to clearance
- Background drug screen consent form prior to start
- Non-disclosure of confidential information form prior to start
- Parking pass form prior to start
- Mon Health – RS Contractor Form completion
- Point of Care Technician Application (for Cath Lab RNs)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- NIH Stroke Certification and 8 CEU hours of stroke education required annually for certain units
- Candidates are not allowed to start with any certification pending
- Cerner modules are sent close to start date; candidates must complete them promptly
- Flu vaccine exemptions require agency approval and documentation
