Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
• Shift: Days, 4x10 hour shifts (07:00-17:30) with 1 scheduled late shift per week (10:00-20:30)
• On-call: Required; must be within 30 minutes of facility during on-call shifts

  • On-call shifts: 17:30-07:00 Monday-Friday, 24-hour coverage on weekends/holidays
  • Approximately 10-13 call shifts per month
• Weekends & Holidays: Required as scheduled
• Floating: May float to pre-op/PACU within unit/specialty as needed

Experience & Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years in cardiac Cath Lab required
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted if they have the required 3 years Cath Lab experience (no prior travel experience explicitly required)
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Maryland RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required during orientation
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred

Patient Population & Procedures

• Patient Diagnoses:

  • Acute Coronary Syndrome
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • STEMI/NSTEMI
  • Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB)
  • Bradycardia
• Procedures:

  • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
  • Pacemaker insertion
  • Loop monitors
  • Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)
  • Cardioversions
• Equipment:

  • Balloon Pump
  • Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)

Facility & Work Environment

• Average daily cases: 7-14
• Cath Lab rooms: 2

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
• Drug testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen required within 30-90 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex screening
• Immunizations and titers required or documentation of exemption for:

  • TB (annual updates required)
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps (vaccines or positive titers required; boosters or exemptions accepted as noted)
  • TDaP (required or signed declination)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask models required)
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
• Verification of at least 2 years hospital experience in the nursing position within last 5 years
• Various competency exams required (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, age-specific, color blind testing) with minimum passing scores

Orientation & Additional Notes

• Orientation typically held at 8am on Tuesdays at the facility's School of Nursing
• Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs or business casual during orientation
• Must complete various facility-specific documents prior to start (confidentiality agreement, badge application, job description acknowledgment, etc.)
• On-site CPI training during orientation; online module assigned prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs with a strong cardiac background seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Maryland with a reputable healthcare system.
