Job Opportunity: Radiation Oncology Therapist

Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Administer radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by Radiation Oncologist and directed by Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment treating 70-95 patients per day on three treatment machines.
  • Shifts between 7am and 7pm, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • No call required.
  • ASAP start date.

Required Credentials

  • ARRT National Radiology License
  • Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) State licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year Radiation Therapy experience (highest required).
  • Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, Aria systems preferred.

Education

  • Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy program required.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic operations of Linear Accelerators; Varian Truebeam, Trilogy, Acuity, and GE Lightspeed CT preferred.
  • Experience with SBRT, SRS, and Breathhold Visual Management.
  • Ability to simulate and administer radiation treatments accurately.
  • Patient positioning, imaging, and annotation of portal images.
  • Observation and reporting of patient side-effects or unusual reactions.
  • Use of digital camera for treatment documentation.
  • Safe patient transfer techniques.
  • Perform simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments.
  • Construct quality immobilization devices.
  • Accurate tattooing and safe needle handling.
  • Participation in daily chart rounds and completion of Aria chart checks.
  • Weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks.
  • Fabrication of custom blocks.
  • Coordination with clinic for continuity of care.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search).
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing.
  • Education verification as applicable.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Drug testing (10 panel) within 90 days of start.
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccines.
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination.
    • Varicella titer or vaccination series or declination.
    • Flu vaccine or signed declination (year-round).
  • Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within the first week of starting.
  • Badge photo with white background required at least 8 days prior to start.

Additional Requirements

  • Competency exams with passing scores required.
  • References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty; at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months.
