Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IMC RN)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (06:45 AM - 07:15 PM)
  • Average Daily Census: 38 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: May float within scope to like units as needed
  • Block Schedule: Open to discussion with manager
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • License Requirement: Must have an active Illinois RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • Post Cardiac Angiogram
  • Post Myocardial Infarction (MI)
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery
  • Sheath Removal, TR band management

Gastrointestinal

  • Feeding tube care and management

Genitourinary/Renal

  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
  • Renal failure care

IV Therapy / Phlebotomy

  • Accessing ports
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line and peripheral line care/management
  • PICC line management
  • Starting IVs

Medication Management

  • Heparin protocols
  • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (with and without titration)

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs
  • Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Competency exam and skills checklist for clinical candidates
  • Photo for badge within one week of signing contract
  • Code of conduct acknowledgment
  • Parking permit form

Notes

  • Candidates must be able to perform core functions without restrictions and be free of communicable diseases.
  • Facility can accommodate latex allergies.
  • Candidates must complete fingerprinting in Illinois if not holding an active IL license.
  • Candidates should be prepared for possible floating to similar units as needed.

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in telemetry or intermediate care settings who are comfortable managing complex cardiac, respiratory, and renal patients in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital.
