Job Opportunity: RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant)

Location: Peoria, Illinois
Specialty: SFMC - Surgery - General (Major) RNFA

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Experience

• At least 2 years of experience as an RNFA
• Must have robotic surgery experience as well as open surgery experience
• Experience with firing staplers required

Certifications Required

• Active RN license
• First Assistant certification

Work Environment & Department Details

• Department: OR - Surgery General (Major)
• 31 OR suites total between 2 buildings, with 15 general surgery rooms
• 40-60 general surgery cases per day
• Common cases include robotic colon surgeries, hernias, gastric sleeves, gastric bypasses, and cholecystectomies
• EMR system: Epic Op time

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Assisting the surgeon during procedures (scrubbing required)
• Must be able to work with robotic and open surgical techniques

Schedule & Call Requirements

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with call
• Call required on weeknights depending on physician needs (covering cases into evening shifts)
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• No weekend or holiday call required
• No floating required

Orientation & Other Information

• 12 hours of non-billable orientation (unit-specific orientation)
• Scrubs provided
• Reports to charge nurse

Additional Requirements

• Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
• Must comply with drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
