Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical with Float ED Overflow)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Dates: February 9, February 23
- Shift Options: 48-hour or 36-hour shifts (please specify when applying)
- Nursing Ratios: Team nursing model (ratios assigned to team including LPNs, RNs, Nurse Techs, Resource Nurse)
- On-Call: As needed
- Weekend Requirement: As needed (no weekend block scheduling except possibly considered)
- Locals: Not accepted (strict 100-mile radius rule)
- Pending License: Not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
- First-Time Travelers: Not accepted unless candidate has 3+ years recent experience in specialty
- Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: Must be included at time of submission; no late submissions accepted
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years recent experience in specialty (Medical Surgical with Float ED Overflow)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required
- Special Requirements:
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Large hospital experience required
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS): AHA or ARC only, required for all candidates
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Required for Medical Surgical and ED
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all RNs (except at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital)
- State License: Tennessee license or multistate license required, must be active and compliant with NLC
- Other Certifications:
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred but not required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) not required for this facility's ER
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) required only for L&D (not applicable here)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Statewide, county, federal, education verification (within 60 days of start)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (within 30 days of start and annually)
- Sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search (for TN facilities)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (proof of vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or positive titer or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending results accepted)
- Fit test for 3M N-95 mask within 1 year (must pass; facial hair not allowed)
- Competency Exams: Must be current within 1 year and updated annually (medication/pharmacology competency, core parts I-III)
- References: Two recent professional references required
- Performance Evaluations: Required if employed with agency for 1 year or more
Additional Notes
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
- Photo for Badge: Must be recent (within 6 months), clear, forward-facing, no hats/headphones/glasses glare, neutral expression
- Submission Policy: Only one job submission allowed at this facility at a time
This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with trauma and large hospital experience who have prior travel contract experience and are ready for a 13-week travel assignment in a Level I Trauma Center.
