Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts plus on-call
Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years required, 5 years preferred
- Prior Travel Experience: Requested (not strictly required, but preferred)
- Licensure: Louisiana state license or Compact license required
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Preferred: CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room)
- Additional Skills/Experience:
- Experience with Orthopedics, DaVinci (General Surgery), and Trauma cases
Background and Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check required within a year of start, updated annually
- Must run checks for all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Instant state searches acceptable while county checks are pending
Certifications (Facility Requirements)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required for all clinical candidates
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for certain specialties (not specifically for this role)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for some areas, preferred for CVOR
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required for Labor & Delivery
- CNOR - Preferred for OR and CVOR RNs
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required for Labor & Delivery
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for ER (not specified for this role)
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - Required for all RNs
- General Competency Exam - Required for all clinical candidates
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam - Required for PICU, Cath Lab, and ER (not specified for this role)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 30 days of start date
- TB Questionnaire - Must be completed and updated annually
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19: Full vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions must be submitted for review
