Job Opportunity: Emergency Room RN

Location: Americus, Georgia

Position Details

• Specialty: Emergency Room
• Contract Length: 17 weeks
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in Emergency Room specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract)

Work Environment & Unit Details

• Unit: Emergency Care (EC)
• Beds: 12 total, including 2 trauma bays
• Psych/Seclusion Rooms: 1 seclusion room
• Patient Volume: Approximately 70 patients per day
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• EMR System: Meditech
• Charge Nurse Role: Yes (charge nurses do not take patients)
• Support Staff:

  • 1 paramedic per shift (runs clinic, responds to trauma/code)
  • ER techs (at least 1-2 per shift)
  • Nurse externs (nursing students)
  • Security/patient sitters for psych holds (1:1 observation)

Shift & Scheduling

• Shifts: 6:45 AM, 6:45 PM, 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Rotate with permanent staff
• Floating: No
• Orientation: Floor-specific, 3 shifts

Patient Population & Care

• Patient Age Range: Neonates to geriatrics
• Case Types: Minor walk-ins to trauma cases
• Trauma Care: Stabilize and transfer via air evacuation
• Pediatric Patients: Transferred out to other facilities

Additional Clinical Support

• IV Team: Available M-F, 8 AM to 5 PM for midlines and difficult sticks
• Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 coverage
• Pharmacy: In-house during the day; after hours support via Omnicell or main pharmacist until midnight
• Lab Draws: Nurses typically perform their own draws; lab support available

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Hunter green pants, white top, white jacket
