Description
Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Inpatient/Acute Care
Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Physical Therapist)
- Shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
- Facility Type: 450-bed trauma level 3 hospital
- Patient Population: Orthopedics, neurology, oncology, post-op back and neck, basic medical-surgical, ICU (medical, cardiac, surgical)
- Team: 8-10 PTs and 6-8 PTAs daily; collaboration with OT, ST, and case management teams
- Locals not accepted; must be willing to travel within a 50-mile radius
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist
- Prior travel experience not required
Licensure & Certifications
- Texas Physical Therapist License required (pending licenses accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
- CHEMO certification as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable
Required Documentation & Compliance
- I9 verification
- Driver’s License/State ID
- E-Verify compliance
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification (transcript or diploma accepted if verification pending)
- Fingerprinting (for New Mexico placements only)
- Photo for badge
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% passing score or meet Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
- Competency exams as applicable to profession (minimum 80% passing score)
- Annual Core testing for subcontractors
Additional Notes
- Complete application/resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- 7-year work history verification required
- References are not required for clearance but may be requested internally
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity inpatient setting with a diverse patient population and a collaborative therapy team. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for therapists new to travel assignments.
