Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Pratt, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Unit: Medical Surgical (Med Surg), Orthopedic, General Surgery
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Schedule: Weekdays with some weekends
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical Surgical, Ortho, General Surgery)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (First time travelers OK)
- License: Kansas State or Compact Nurse License required
- Certifications:
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
- Skills:
- IV start
- Telemetry experience
- Charge nurse experience
- Preferred Experience:
- Orthopedic experience with total hips and knees a plus
- Rural health experience a plus
- EMR System: TRUBRIDGE (formerly CPSI) experience required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of I9 or Attestation
- Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
- Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Federal criminal felony & misdemeanor check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Certifications:
- ACLS, BLS, and other unit-specific certifications as applicable
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% passing score)
- Unit-specific competency exams (minimum 80% passing score)
- Facility-specific documents:
- Confidentiality Agreement
- Standards of Performance
- Agency Information Sheet
- Training Videos and WorkRamp Modules (must be completed prior to start)
- Restraints Training and Suicide/Behavioral Risk Assessment training (review prior to arrival)
Health Requirements
- Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tdap vaccine required
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of immunity via titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B: Proof of immunity, vaccination series, or declination
- Varicella: Proof of immunity via titer or 2 vaccines
- Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months
- Flu Vaccine: Mandatory during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31) unless medically exempt
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required; facility accepts vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption
References & History
- Two professional clinical references required
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year
- Skills checklist and employment application required

- Ability to quickly adapt and "jump in" is important due to small hospital setting
- Charge nurse experience is a plus
