Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - Med-Tele Float OB

Location: Hettinger, North Dakota

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Unit combines Med Surg, Med-Tele, and Pediatrics (17 beds total)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Telemetry: 1:4
  • Pediatrics: 1:4
  • Med Surg: 1:4-5
• Common diagnoses: CHF, Pneumonia, COPD, Atrial Fibrillation, BBB, RSV, Dehydration, post-op surgical patients (both pediatric and adult)
• RNs are required to titrate drips per policy (common titratable meds include Cardiazem, Heparin, Amiodarone)
• No tele/monitor techs on unit; RNs read their own telemetry strips using Mindray monitors
• Respiratory therapy equipment available: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow
• Nurse aids available with a ratio of 1:8
• Charge Nurse role is ER Charge Nurse who does not take patient assignments

Certifications & Experience

• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS (PALS preferred)
• Experience: Must have experience in a similar facility size
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Shifts: 7a-7p and 7p-7a, self-scheduling with manager oversight
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend, possibly every third weekend
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/standby: May be placed on call for low census on additional shifts
• Floating: May be tasked to float to ER for extra hands and IV starts
• Orientation: 1 day and 1 night shift on the unit
• Dress code: Any color/pattern scrubs allowed; closed-toe shoes required

This position is ideal for RNs with Med-Tele and Pediatrics experience who are comfortable managing telemetry without tech support and are flexible with floating and scheduling.
