Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room Circulator)
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Details

  • Shifts: Primarily 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM; some shifts 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Shift Notes: Must be willing to take "dots" and "double dots" (stay over after shift based on room completion)
  • Patient Population: Pediatrics to Geriatrics
  • Specialty Experience Required: Minimum 1 year as an RN circulator in the intraoperative setting
  • Specialties Covered: Retina surgery, total hip/knees, hand surgery, breast oncology and reconstruction, ENT, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, podiatry
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Rooms: 5 rooms with an average daily census of 18
  • Electronic Systems: Epic, Pyxis
  • Scrub Color: Provided by facility
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: None required
  • Floating: Rare
  • Call Requirements: No formal call, but may need to stay late based on room completion ("dots" and "double dots")
  • Holiday Work: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (expectation varies by number of holidays during contract)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
  • Other certifications may be relevant depending on specialty area (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP), but BLS is the minimum required for this role

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year intraoperative circulator experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; failure to comply may delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final approval
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)

Health & Background Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required (degree related to specialty)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
  • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blind testing required (with alternative assessment if needed)
  • Other competency exams may be required depending on specialty and unit

Additional Notes

  • No weekends required
  • Rare floating to other units
  • Must adhere to facility dress and professional appearance policies
  • Must review and sign facility code of conduct prior to start

This position is ideal for an RN with at least 1 year of intraoperative circulator experience who is comfortable working varied shifts in a surgical setting with a diverse patient population. Prior travel experience is not required.
