Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- 1st time travelers accepted
- No prior travel experience explicitly required
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on specialty area (refer to clinical track requirements)
- State RN license verification required (Georgia)
- Annual NURSYS verification required
- Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season
- Other certifications such as EFM, Tech Cert Verification, and Drug Testing required as per facility policy
Skills and Competencies
- Experience with Med Surg diagnoses
- Skills required:
- Isolation Precautions
- Wound Care/Wound Vac
- Nasal Cannula, High Flow Nasal Cannula
- Chest Tubes
- Starting IVs
- PICC Line Management
- Blood Product Administration
- Feeding Tube Care and Management
- Competency exams required for medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blindness testing
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system required
Work Environment
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:6
- Unit size: 32 rooms, average daily census 29
- Floating required
- Every other weekend work required
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays depending on number falling within assignment period
Orientation and Compliance
- Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum 7 days
- Full compliance with documentation and certifications required prior to start
- Background check, education verification, drug testing, and health documents must be completed before start or within specified grace periods
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or titers required for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
Additional Notes
- Facility requires review and signing of Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
- Skills checklist and work history verification required, can be pending at start with proof of processing
This position is suitable for registered nurses with at least 1 year of experience in Med Surg or similar adult/geriatric care settings, who are comfortable with a variety of clinical skills and certifications, and who can comply with detailed onboarding and compliance requirements.
