Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on specialty area (refer to clinical track requirements)
  • State License verification required (must be licensed in Georgia)
  • Annual NURSYS verification required
  • Additional certifications such as EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) may be required post-hire

Skills and Competencies

  • Experience with Med Surg diagnoses
  • Skills required:
    • Isolation Precautions
    • Wound Care/Wound Vac
    • Nasal Cannula & High Flow Nasal Cannula
    • Chest Tubes
    • Starting IVs
    • PICC Line Management
    • Blood Product Administration
    • Feeding Tube Care and Management
  • Competency exams required:
    • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for certain units)
    • Color Blind Testing
    • General Competency Exam

Work Environment

  • Patient ratio: 1:6
  • Unit census: 32 rooms, average daily census 29
  • Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • Floating required
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • Call: None
  • Return to Office (RTO) policy: Maximum 7 days

Holiday Work Expectations

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include New Year’s, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas

Compliance and Onboarding

  • Full compliance with documentation and certifications required to start on time
  • Background check must be completed prior to start
  • Drug screening (10 panel) required within 30 days of start, negative results required before starting
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start
  • TB testing and questionnaire required
  • Immunizations required or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination

Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • Background check including education verification
  • Education verification or transcripts/diploma
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Work history verification of most recent employer

This position is suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of experience in Med Surg or related adult/geriatric care settings, who hold current BLS certification and meet the required documentation and competency standards. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with a 1:6 patient ratio and requires flexibility for floating and holiday shifts.
