Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

• Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
• Unit: Medical Surgical Unit with remote telemetry and potential medical surgical diagnoses
• Unit Size: 38 beds, average daily census of 33
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Systems Used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, and others may be required depending on specialty area (refer to clinical track specifics)
• Licensure: State License verification required (Georgia RN license)
• Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to orientation scheduling

Work Schedule & Expectations

• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• Floating: Yes
• Call: None
• Holidays: Travelers expected to work major holidays during assignment (details provided for specific holidays)

Orientation & Competency

• Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours orientation)
• Competency exams required include:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (3 attempts max)
  • Color Blind Testing Online
  • General Competency Exam for Nursing

Health & Background Requirements

• Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including education verification
• Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions
• Immunizations & Health Documentation:

  • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Flu vaccination or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
• References: Two clinical references required by the staffing agency (not required by client)
• Skills Checklist and Work History Verification required, can be pending at start with proof of processing
