Position Details

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Room specialty
• Prior travel experience required: Must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
  • TNCC

Work Environment & Unit Details

• Unit: Emergency Care (EC)
• Beds: 12 total, including 2 trauma bays
• Psych/seclusion rooms: 1 seclusion room
• Patient volume: Approximately 70 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Charge Nurse role: Yes (does not take patients)
• Support staff:

  • 1 paramedic per shift (runs clinic, responds to trauma/code)
  • ER techs (at least 1 per shift, ideally 2)
  • Nurse externs (nursing students)
  • Security/patient sitters for 1:1 observation on psych holds
• EMR system: Meditech
• IV Team available (8 AM - 5 PM, Monday-Friday) for midlines and hard sticks
• Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 coverage
• Pharmacy: In-house during the day; after hours support via Omnicell or main pharmacist until midnight
• Lab draws: Nurses typically perform their own draws; lab support available

Patient Population & Care

• Patient age range: Neonates to geriatrics
• Case types: Minor walk-ins to trauma cases
• Trauma protocol: Stabilize and air evacuate trauma patients
• Pediatric patients: Transferred out to specialized facilities
