Job Opportunity: PCU/Stepdown RN (Travel)
Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
Specialty: RN PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- New unit with 1:5/1:6 nurse-to-patient ratios
- Requires 2+ years of current RN experience in specialty
- Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications
- Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
- Must hold a Kentucky or compact nursing license
- RN must reside within 100 miles of the facility
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly
- Start date on job posting is the required start date
- Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of accepting the offer
- Only submit candidate to one job at a time
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in PCU or related specialty
Licenses & Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA certification required (front and back of card if not electronic)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required for all RNs except Psych and True Med/Surg units
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification – Required for RN specialties except OR and Psych
- Nursing License – Kentucky or compact license valid for KY
- Nursys Verification – Must be within 30 days of start date
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (with follow-up if low/equivocal)
- Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination
- Annual Influenza vaccine (October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption
- Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (with follow-up if low/equivocal)
- Tdap vaccination (valid 10 years from administered date; declinations accepted)
- TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start
- If positive TB record, proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire
- Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work without restrictions
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days prior to start including:
- 7-year county criminal history
- Nationwide criminal, SSN trace, national sex offender, SAM, OIG checks
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (excluding marijuana/THC)
- Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start (Kentucky)
- Two professional references required: one charge nurse or higher, one supervisor reference within last year
- Submission packet including specialty job description, references, and background check results required
Skills & Competency Testing
- ARH EKG Exam and Telemetry Exam specific to scope of practice (within 1 year)
- ARH Skills Checklist (unit specific, within 1 year)
- ARH Competency Exam (within 1 year)
- ARH Core Competencies including HIPAA, Patient Bill of Rights, Safety Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Elder Abuse and Neglect, Age Specific Care, Cultural Diversity, Advance Directives (annual update required)
Additional Requirements
- Assignment confirmation form must be uploaded within 24 hours of offer acceptance
- Must complete ARH Employee Health Attestation Form prior to compliance deadline
- Must reside within 100 miles of the facility
