Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Avon, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), Monday-Saturday variable
Required Experience
- Minimum of 18 months recent OR experience.
- Must have 18 months permanent OR experience prior to travel.
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation.
- Other certifications (not required for this role but relevant for other specialties):
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC (preferred but not required for OR).
- State License verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
References & History
- One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty applying for is required (Charge RN references accepted).
- Two references from employment within one year of start required (Manager, ANM, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director).
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, including at least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting and similar area to assignment.
Work Requirements
- Traveler must work at least every other holiday.
- Pass fail ECG & medication testing completed onsite during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts).
Background Checks & Compliance
- Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract.
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending but must complete prior to start.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31).
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided for orientation testing.
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required (except OR RNs).
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Must have permanent Ohio or compact state license in hand before starting.
- Must be able to work variable Monday-Saturday schedule.
- Must be able to pass ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate tests during orientation.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
