Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced ER Registered Nurse for a Level II Trauma Center with multiple specialty units including Cath Lab, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Open Heart Center, Labor & Delivery, PICU & Pediatric hospital, and NICU. The Emergency Department may require floating to a designated overflow unit as needed.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- At least 1 year experience in Level I or Level II Trauma care
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Additional preferred certifications (may be required depending on unit):
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- STABLE
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam
Licensure & Verification
- Active RN license with verification through Nursys as applicable
- Education program must be approved by Maryland Board of Nursing or verified as equivalent
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations/vaccinations including MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccine (or approved exemptions)
Competencies & Training
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required
- Stroke and Trauma CEUs must be current and completed as required (Stroke CEUs prior to start, Trauma CEUs after 27th week)
- Respirator fit testing completed onsite (if applicable)
- Completion and acknowledgment of facility-specific policies including floating and time & attendance
Additional Information
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidate may be expected to float to other units within the hospital as needed
- Compliance with all facility-specific documentation and training is mandatory prior to start
- Professional references and employment verification required
