Job Opportunity: Family Birthing Unit Labor & Delivery RN

Location: Kamuela, Hawaii

Qualifications & Requirements

Education / Licensure / Certification

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
• Current and unencumbered Hawaii RN license required
• Required certifications:

  • BLS/HCP
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • C-EFM (NCC certification required; Advanced or Intermediate Fetal Monitoring courses are not accepted as substitutes)
• STABLE certification preferred
• All certifications and licensure must be valid throughout the contract duration

Experience

• Minimum 2 years full-time Labor & Delivery staff RN experience prior to any travel contracts (highest required years of experience)
• Mother/Baby couplet care and newborn stabilization experience preferred

Other Requirements

• Full compliance documentation must be submitted at least 10 days before contract start date
• No Return to Origin (RTO) will be approved for the initial contract
• Prior travel experience is required

Unit Description

• Family Birthing Unit with:

  • 5 private labor and delivery suites
  • 1 triage room
  • 3 postpartum overflow beds
  • Level 1 nursery
• Low-risk OB unit equipped for high-risk stabilization until transport
• Care includes labor and delivery patients, postpartum couplets, and neonatal stabilization until transport
• Baby-Friendly designated hospital with collaborative Physician and Midwifery services

• Compliance must be complete and uploaded 10 or more days before start date to avoid delays or cancellation
• Hawaii residents are eligible but will not receive traveler rates

Summary:
This contract position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs with at least 2 years of L&D experience, current Hawaii RN licensure, and required certifications including ACLS, BLS, NRP, and NCC EFM. Prior travel experience is required. The role involves working in a Baby-Friendly, low-risk OB unit with a focus on labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal stabilization care.
