Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This is a travel/contract position requiring compliance with specific credentialing, certifications, and health requirements.


Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting based on application requirements.

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all candidates.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required.

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Not required.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred, not required.
  • State Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days of start; must be current.
  • Other: Annual Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for bedside RNs (except OR).

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
  • Fit Mask (N95) test within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if titers negative/equivocal.
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination.
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if needed.
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season.
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.

Background and Compliance Checks

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Education verification required for all candidates.
  • References: 2 references from employment within 1 year, from a manager or supervisor (no co-worker references).
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care.

Competency and Orientation

  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • Pass/Fail EKG and medication testing during orientation (retake available if needed).
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for review before orientation.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; candidates may start with results pending but must complete prior to extension.
  • Physical exam must confirm ability to safely perform essential job functions.
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need updated physical, chest X-ray, and eye exam.
  • Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.
  • Flu vaccine or exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31).
