Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER Holding)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel contract in an ER Holding unit. The assignment runs from February 15, 2026, through February 28, 2026, with no return to office (RTO) during this period.

- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (specialty experience requirement)

- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required Exams and Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and updated annually)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
- Transcript/Diploma verification (official transcripts required)
- Pending background check attestation if fingerprint results are pending
- Completion of Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism Form
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training Certificate (must be completed prior to start and updated annually)
- Annual review and acknowledgment of Ethics and Compliance Policies
- Dress Code and Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- TB Questionnaire (in lieu of annual TB test renewal)
- MMR Vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (signed declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption allowed with documentation)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required
References and Documentation
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership
- Employment application required, including education verification for nursing candidates
- Skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting must be completed using Ohio BCI & FBI codes specific to healthcare workers responsible for children or adults
- Fingerprinting results must be current within 1 year of start date; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service over 90 days
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses comfortable with telemetry, stepdown care, and emergency holding unit responsibilities, who meet the certification and compliance requirements outlined above.
