Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Step Down Unit)

Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Required Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years in PCU
    • ICU experience also required
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Certifications Required at Time of Submission:
    • AHA BLS
    • ACLS
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) must be obtained prior to start
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Epic experience at level 3 or 4
    • Familiarity with cardiac drips
    • Must be nicotine-free (smoke-free facility)
    • Negative 10-panel drug screen plus nicotine test required
  • Floating: Yes, will float within scope to three nearby hospitals (within 20 miles)
  • Schedule:
    • 3x12 shifts guaranteed 36 hours/week
    • 8 or 10-hour shifts guaranteed 40 hours/week
    • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • Locals: Accepted at same rate
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Orientation: Next available orientation date approximately 3-4 weeks out

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
  • E-Verify documentation
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen plus nicotine test within 1 year of start
  • 2 professional references within 2 years required
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually) required
  • Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Pharmacology) administered during orientation for RNs

Training & Onboarding

  • Online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start
  • Modules include COVID documentation submission and other facility-specific training
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone
  • Time-sensitive modules must be prioritized immediately upon assignment confirmation

Notes

  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; late requests likely will not be approved
  • Facility is smoke-free; no exceptions
  • Candidates must be aware of high priority for completing onboarding modules without delay
