Description
Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - LDRP Unit
Location: Williston, North Dakota
Specialty: LDRP RN (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Preferred: ACLS, NRP, STABLE
Experience Requirements

Unit Details
- Department: LDRP RN - Float
- Number of L&D Beds: 15 total (7 L&D, 8 Postpartum)
- OR Suites for C-Sections: 1
- Births: Approximately 58 per month
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- 1:1 for pitocin, magnesium, or insulin drips
- 1:3 couplet care
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Obstetric and neonatal patients
- Hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)
- Typically avoid delivering babies less than 36 weeks gestation
Skills & Responsibilities
- Must be able to read and interpret fetal heart rate strips independently
- Critical thinking and ability to follow quality metrics
- RNs are required to titrate drips (pitocin, insulin, magnesium)
- Float to Medsurg and ER as needed
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
- Work with nurse aides/surgical techs who assist with vitals, transfers, and patient ambulation
- No in-house OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia 24/7 coverage
- Respiratory therapy equipment present; RNs troubleshoot but do not manage equipment directly
- Use Philips telemetry monitors and TraceView/PIP EFM system
- EMR system: Meditech
Scheduling & Shifts
- Shifts: 06:45 - 19:15 and 18:45 - 07:15
- Block scheduling only (no self-scheduling)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
- Call/standby: Depends on staffing
- Floating required within hospital as needed
Orientation & Dress Code
- Unit-specific orientation: 3 shifts
- Scrub color: Maroon surgical scrubs provided on unit
Additional Notes
- Successful nurses are adaptive to change, good critical thinkers, and effective communicators
- Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities in the past 12 months
This position is ideal for experienced LDRP RNs comfortable with fetal monitoring, drip titration, and flexible floating assignments, who have prior travel nursing experience.
