Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Step Down Unit)
Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in PCU
- ICU experience also required
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Certifications Required at Time of Submission:
- AHA BLS
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) must be obtained prior to start
- Additional Requirements:
- Epic experience at level 3 or 4
- Familiarity with cardiac drips
- Must be nicotine-free (smoke-free facility)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine (cotinine) required
- Floating: Yes, will float within scope to three nearby hospitals (within 20 miles)
- Schedule:
- 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts
- 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Locals: Accepted at same rate
- Pending License: Accepted

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
- E-Verify proof or attestation
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check (all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
- Required immunizations or titers:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine within 1 year of start (no annual update required)
- 2 professional references within 2 years of start required
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually) required
- Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) administered during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)
Orientation & Training
- Orientation scheduled approximately 3-4 weeks out
- Online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start (completed on computer using Google Chrome)
- Time-sensitive modules must be prioritized immediately upon assignment confirmation
- Pass/Fail testing on EKG and Pharmacology during orientation
- HIPAA and safety manual acknowledgments required
Notes
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; late requests likely will not be approved
- Facility is smoke-free; nicotine use is strictly prohibited
- Candidates must be aware of high priority for completing onboarding modules without delay
- Candidates with a break greater than 6 months between assignments at this hospital system will need to re-orient
