Job Opportunity: RN - MedSurg/Telemetry (Days)
Location: Fort Madison, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Specialty
- Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units
- Provides care to Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry patient populations
- Responsible for nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation
- Must self-study telemetry strips before starting; a basic dysrhythmia test will be given during the first week and must be passed to continue working on the unit
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Current RN license (Primary source verification required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (American Heart Association or Apex Innovations only)
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry nursing
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum experience appropriate for MedSurg/Telemetry RN role (typically 1-2 years)

Additional Requirements
- Must pass a dysrhythmia test during the first week of assignment
- ACLS and NIH certifications are mandatory
- Must complete various health screenings and attestations prior to onboarding, including but not limited to:
- COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted)
- MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap vaccinations or titers (declinations accepted)
- TB test (negative test within past year or appropriate documentation if history of positive)
- Fit test for approved respirators
- Drug screen (10 panel, THC not required)
- Health statement from a physician within the last 12 months
- Background checks and verifications including adult and child abuse registry, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM checks, and references (2 professional references required, 1 must be from a supervisor)
- Completion of skills checklist within the last 12 months
- Valid government-issued photo ID required
- Completion of OSHA questionnaire and pre-orientation computer-based learning acknowledgment
- Influenza vaccine required annually (or facility declination)
Work Environment
- Day shift on a telemetry/medical-surgical unit
- Collaborative team environment with interaction among patients, families, and healthcare team members
This position is suitable for experienced MedSurg/Telemetry RNs who are comfortable with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, hold current certifications, and meet the health and compliance requirements listed.
