MRI Tech - Radiology

Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: MRI Tech (Inpatient)
• Shift: 3x12 hour rotating shifts (varied days of the week)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Call Requirements: Call is required, including after-hours standby and callback time
• May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
• Travelers may be required to float to other areas within their competency level
• Schedule can include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
• The facility may call off shifts with 48 hours’ notice for low census during the 13-week contract

Required Qualifications

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • AART certification preferred
  • Certification in MRI preferred (R.T., R.M.R.I.T.)
  • BLS (AHA) required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of MRI experience (highest required years of experience)
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Job Responsibilities

• Produce diagnostic MRI scans and assist radiologists and referring physicians during MRI procedures
• Ensure patient care for all age groups: infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
• Operate MRI scanners efficiently and accurately, applying advanced technical skills and physics knowledge
• Make technical decisions to optimize MRI image quality
• Use various MRI scanning equipment proficiently
• Operate hospital and department computer systems related to imaging
• Maintain accuracy and prioritize tasks under pressure while communicating effectively and professionally
• Uphold high standards of diplomacy and confidentiality

Work Environment

• Extremely busy, fast-paced Level 2 trauma center serving a 500-mile radius
• 800 inpatient beds, 80 ER beds
• Volume and pace comparable to a Level 1 trauma center
• Facility offers advanced technologies including 3T MRI, PET/CT scanners, and robotic surgical systems
