Job Summary

A hospital in Connecticut is seeking a Med Surg/Tele RN to start ASAP. The ideal candidate will have experience with both Cerner and EPIC electronic health record systems.

Requirements

• Specialty: Med Surg/Tele RN
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med Surg/Tele nursing
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (not suitable for first-time travelers)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA or ARC) required
  • ACLS preferred
  • NIHSS preferred
• Licensure: Connecticut RN license required
• EPIC experience: Required
• Work Availability:

  • Must be able to work every other weekend (EOW) including Sundays
  • Must be able to work 48-hour shifts
  • No local travelers within 50 miles allowed
  • No blocked schedules available
  • No Return to Orientation (RTO) within first two weeks, minimal RTO overall
• Shift: Nights, 3-12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Hours: 36 hours per week, overtime after 48 hours
• Unit: Medical North 4 (26 beds)
• Patient Care: General medical patients, no telemetry or ventilators except CPAP HS only
• Nurse to Patient Ratios:

  • Days: 1:3-4
  • Nights: 1:7-8
• Additional Notes:

  • Charge nurse shared with another unit
  • Nurse aides available (1:8 ratio)
  • Respiratory treatments performed by nurses; hospitalist coverage 24/7
  • IV team available 7 AM - 8:30 PM; nurse resource available 24/7 for IV help
  • Pharmacy available 24/7
  • Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts
  • Dress code: Caribbean blue scrubs, black or white shirts allowed underneath, pants may be black or Caribbean blue

Summary

This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg/Tele RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable working night shifts, every other weekend including Sundays, and handling a general medical patient population in a fast-paced hospital setting. EPIC experience and Connecticut licensure are mandatory.
