Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Ontario, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for an ER travel/contract position. The nurse must be willing to float to other campuses if census drops to maintain hours. Weekend work every other week (EOW) is required, with no blocked scheduling allowed. Missed shifts must be made up, and coverage must be found if working on a weekend during RTO. On-call nurses must be able to return to the facility within 1 hour.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (highest required)
• Prior travel experience is required

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Advanced NRP (AAP only)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER

Skills & Competencies

• Airway management
• Management of ventilated patients
• Arterial line management
• Dysrhythmia management
• Central line management
• IV drip management
• Isolation precautions
• Triage skills (specific to ER/ER Holding)
• Electronic charting experience
• Nurse to patient ratios typically 1:1 to 1:2+

Work Conditions & Expectations

• No blocked scheduling allowed
• Must be able to float to other campuses as needed
• Must make up all missed shifts
• Weekend work every other week required
• On-call nurses must return within 1 hour if called

Required Documentation & Compliance

• 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated every contract renewal)
• OH BCI and FBI fingerprint attestation (updated annually)
• Education verification
• Physical exam within 12 months, updated annually
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and titers:

  • TDAP within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccines
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccine
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually
• Fit mask testing prior to start and annually
• Proof of 2 clinical references
• Completion of facility-specific onboarding and competency exams

Additional Requirements

• Must review and sign facility-specific policies and job descriptions prior to start
• Completion of online Healthstream modules and Epic training modules within the first week
• Skills check-offs for specific competencies during the first week onsite
• Compliance with COVID and flu exemption policies if applicable

This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses with prior travel experience who are flexible and able to meet strict scheduling and compliance requirements.
