Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Therapist (CRT)
Location: Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide daily respiratory treatments, ventilator management, BiPAP, Airvo checks, PRN treatments, and bedside procedures.
- Maintain patient charts with documentation of each therapy or visit.
- Attend all emergency codes and alerts including Codes, First Responses, RRTs, Fire alarms, STEMI, Stroke, Trauma, and Mass Transfusion alerts. Participate in Sepsis and Trauma ACT if called.
- Support emergencies with at least two RTs present for CPR, intubation, equipment setup, and patient lifting.
- Assist patients on BiPAP/CPAP with removal/replacement for medications, eating, or comfort as needed.
- Accompany patients on RT equipment or oxygen ≥6 Lpm during testing, transfers, and physical therapy.
- Perform bedside Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), overnight pulse oximetry testing, and bedside bronchoscopies using disposable scopes.
- Draw and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs) for ICU and critical patients.
- Conduct scheduled Cough Assist, IPV, and CPT treatments.
- Assist with neonatal deliveries and support Neonatal Nurse Practitioners or Neonatologists with surfactant delivery and medication bagging.
- Manage desaturations with BiPAP/CPAP, switch between heated high flow cannula and BiPAP.
- Maintain and clean respiratory equipment, bronch carts, Glidescope machines, and perform EKGs during off-hours or tech absence.
- Perform brain death testing, set up Nitric Oxide in OR and ICU, set up Heliox, and notify management of supply needs.
- RTs may be responsible for 10-15+ patients across multiple floors and may travel to MRI, CT, Cath Lab, OR, etc.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) as required
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU, IMC/IMCU, inpatient, Med Surg, Step Down RN positions)
- Tech Certification Verification (as applicable)
Required Background and Health Checks
- 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Negative TB test (QGold) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 60 days of start.
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen with expanded opiates within 14 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (October to March).
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references verified within 2 years of start.
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
- Color blindness testing if working in dialysis/kidney center (not typically applicable here).
- Compliance with facility-specific documentation including photo for badge, confidentiality statement, and compliance checklist.
