Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health House Nurse Coordinator (Travel RN Psych)
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum 2+ years of current experience as House Nurse Coordinator or House Supervisor in an acute Behavioral Health/Psychiatric setting.
- Must be able to care for adults, geriatrics, and pediatrics.
- Patient ratio: 1:5.
- Schedule: 36 hours worked / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period.
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
- RN must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered.
- Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of accepting the offer.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- Valid nursing license (Kentucky or compact license valid for Kentucky)
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start
Required Health & Compliance
- Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer prior to start.
- Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination.
- Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer.
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (declinations accepted).
- Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions.
- TB Quantiferon blood test within 1 year prior to start.
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal, October-March) or approved exemption required.
- Drug screen completed within 30 days of start (includes multiple substances, marijuana/THC excluded).
- Background check within 30 days prior to start, including criminal, employment, and education verifications.
- Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification (Kentucky).
- Social Security trace and various federal/state exclusion screenings as required.
Required Professional Documentation
- Signed and dated specialty job description.
- ARH submission packet including minimum 2+ years experience documentation.
- Two professional references required: one charge nurse or higher, one supervisor reference within the last year.
- Assignment confirmation form submitted within 24 hours of acceptance.
- Completion of ARH skills checklist, competency exam, and core competencies annually.
- Compliance with HIPAA, patient rights, safety orientation, bloodborne pathogens, fire safety, infection control, elder abuse and neglect, age-specific care, cultural diversity, and advance directives training.
