Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist

Location: Dickinson, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • ND Respiratory Therapy License required at time of submission
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (preferred)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS (AHA)
• Preferred Certifications:

  • PALS
  • NRP
• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Job Details

• Patient Population: All age ranges (neonates, pediatrics, adults)
• Work Areas: Emergency Room, Inpatient, some Outpatient
• Typical Treatments: ABGs, EKGs, all respiratory therapy duties
• EMR System: Meditech
• Intubation: Assist only; independent intubation not required
• Supervision: No Respiratory Manager/Supervisor/Lead Therapist on each shift (days M-F)
• Coverage: Traveler may be the only RT in-house at times
• Equipment Used: PB980, Hamilton C1 ventilators, V60 BiPAP
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights (7a-7p, 7p-7a)
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling or block scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Yes, holidays in rotation
• Call: No call or standby call required
• Orientation: 1-2 weeks of unit/department-specific orientation depending on experience
• Dress Code: Black scrubs preferred, but any color is acceptable

Additional Information

• Fit Testing / Facial Hair Policy:
  Clinicians with facial hair must pass fit testing (3M Aura 1860 or 1870+). Failure to pass may require a Portacount test, which cannot be completed with facial hair. PAPR use is not available on site for those who fail due to facial hair. Contract may be canceled if facial hair cannot be removed.
• Hospital Support: Hospitalist or Intensivist available 24/7
• Radius Rule: Candidates must be located within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
• Return to Office (RTO): Required within 7 days or less of contract start; no additional RTO approved after submission.

This position offers a diverse patient population and a fast-paced environment with rotating shifts and weekend/holiday coverage. Ideal for Respiratory Therapists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working independently and managing a variety of respiratory care duties.
