Job Opportunity: RN - Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Location: Andalusia, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to care team, physicians, patients, and families.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support.
- Evaluate learning needs of patients and families and provide appropriate education.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Circulate during C-sections and assist physicians during deliveries.
- Follow policies for recovery and care of surgical patients.
- Attend neonatal station in C-section suite and assess neonates post-delivery.
- Maintain fetal monitoring certification every two years.
- Attend STABLE certification class if offered; must be NRP certified.
- Identify and communicate necessary information to physicians and patients.
Requirements
- Licensure: Alabama RN or RN compact license.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications (must be through the American Heart Association).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years recent experience in LDRP/Mother-baby, transition care of newborns, and OB triage.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.
Additional Notes
- Must have fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation certifications.
- Experience working in labor and delivery, mother-baby units, and OB triage is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
