Job Opportunity: ICU RN (RN MICU) - Travel Position

Location: Harlan, Kentucky
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The role involves providing critical care nursing with a 1:2 patient ratio, utilizing Meditech EMR, and requires flexibility to float to other units if census is low.


Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of current ICU experience (highest required years of experience)
  • Must have a Kentucky or compact nursing license
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Certifications & Licenses (Required)

  • BLS (American Heart Association certified; front and back of certificate if not electronic)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association certified; front and back of certificate if not electronic)
  • NIH Certification (required for RN specialties except OR)
  • Nursys verification (within 30 days of start)
  • Valid nursing license for Kentucky or compact license for KY ARH facilities

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • COVID-19 Vaccine (proof of completed series; religious and medical exemptions accepted with documentation)
  • Influenza Vaccine (required Sept 1 - May 31; religious and medical exemptions accepted with documentation; declinations not accepted)
  • MMR (proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer prior to start; if low/equivocal, proof of first dose to start, second dose within 28-30 days)
  • Varicella (proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer prior to start; if low/equivocal, proof of first dose to start, second dose within 28-30 days)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, proof of 3 vaccine series, or declination accepted)
  • Tdap (valid 10 years from administered date; Td not accepted; declinations acceptable)
  • TB Quantiferon Blood Test (within one year prior to start; annual update required)
  • Positive PPD requires proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire
  • Annual Physical or Physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions

Additional Health & Safety

  • Fit Test for N95 respirators (optional but recommended; PAPR not accommodated)
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start (excluding marijuana/THC)

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Schedule: 36 hours on / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period
  • Floating to other units required if census is low
  • Must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered
  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly
  • Start date is immediate upon job acceptance

Compliance & Documentation

  • Background checks within 30 days prior to start, including:
    • 7-year county criminal history, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, education and employment verification, driving record
  • Submission packet and job description must be signed and dated
  • Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Skills checklist, competency exams, EKG/Telemetry exams, and core competencies must be current (within one year)
  • Employee Health Attestation Form must be completed prior to compliance deadline
  • Assignment confirmation required within 24 hours of accepting the offer
