Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Ludington, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Information

• Type of Facility: Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
• Number of Beds/Residents: 83 beds / 74 residents
• Dementia Unit: 20 beds in a locked down dementia unit
• EMR System: Point Click Care
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Days and Afternoons: 1 RN to 15 residents (5 RNs for 74 residents)
  • Midnights: 1 RN to 74 residents
• Telemonitors: No
• Respiratory Therapist On-site: No (Bipap and Cpap only, no vented patients)
• Pharmacy: No on-site pharmacy or medication dispensing system
• Physician Availability: 24-hour access to Team Health

Certifications & Experience Requirements

• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • Valid RN License
• Specialty Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in Long-Term Care (LTC)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; open to first-time travelers

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Common Diagnoses: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Diabetes Mellitus (DM), Rehabilitation, Dementia

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Administer medications
• Perform head-to-toe assessments
• Possible charge nurse duties
• IVs: Yes, for fluids or antibiotics
• Floating: Required throughout the facility
• Attendance at team conferences for acute inpatient rehab: Not required

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift Lengths:

  • 8-hour shifts:

    • Days: 7am - 3pm
    • Midnights: 3pm - 11pm
    • Nights: 11pm - 7am
  • 12-hour shifts:

    • Days: 7am - 7pm
    • Nights: 7pm - 7am
• Block scheduling allowed for agency nurses
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: May be asked to work on holidays
• Call or Standby: None

Orientation & Training

• Unit/Department Specific Orientation includes:

  • Relias modules
  • Skills checkoff
  • One day orientation on general side (twice)

Additional Notes

• Dress Code: Any color scrubs
• Interdisciplinary Team includes PT/OT, Dietician, Activities, Social Services, MDS/case managers, Business Office biller
• Supervisory Staff: DON/Charge Nurse on each shift; 1st and 3rd shift supervisors; ADON takes call

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of LTC experience and is open to nurses new to travel assignments.
