Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - Labor and Delivery (LDRP)

Location: Garden City, Kansas

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36-hour guarantee
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: none
• Call or standby required per policy
• Floating required per policy (float between L&D, Postpartum, Mother-Baby units)

Unit Information

• Unit: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Mother-Baby
• 12 LDRP rooms
• 1 OR suite on unit for C-sections
• 1 triage bed
• Approximately 1.5 births per day (50-60 per month)
• Follow AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
• Charge nurse typically takes an assignment
• 1 surgical tech on unit
• No OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia in-house 24/7
• No adult telemetry; fetal monitoring required (EFM systems: GE and OBIX)
• No respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP)

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring

Experience & Skills Required

• LDRP experience required
• Experience with couplet care (mother and baby)
• Ability to circulate in OR
• Ability to titrate drips, including Pitocin

Orientation

• Unit/department-specific orientation: 1-2 shifts
• Orientation during night shifts, every other week
• Must be in-state for week of orientation (some modules may be remote)

Additional Notes

• Hiring process includes candidate interview and interview with clinical team
• Must submit driver’s license (radius: 60 miles)
• Dress code: any professional colors

Summary

This is a rural hospital position for an experienced Labor and Delivery RN with skills in couplet care and OR circulation. The role requires night shifts with a 36-hour guarantee, weekend rotation every other weekend, and call/standby duties. Certifications in ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring are mandatory. The unit follows AWHONN guidelines and has a moderate birth volume. Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
