Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include:

• Performing all unit-specific duties within the scope of service
• Implementing nursing procedures and theories relevant to the specialty
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care
• Completing initial patient assessments and developing appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs
• Implementing and modifying plans of care through continuous evaluation
• Ensuring patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards
• Communicating effectively with healthcare team members and providing constructive feedback
• Identifying personal learning needs and pursuing professional development
• Meeting all departmental competency requirements

Department-Specific Functions

• Complete patient assessments and document findings in EPIC
• Recognize normal and abnormal patient findings and notify physicians as appropriate
• Establish patient care plans and set goals
• Establish IVs on patients over 8 years old, adhering to medication administration safety protocols
• Participate in surgical time-out processes with OR RNs

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience
• ASN degree required; BSN preferred
• Illinois RN license in good standing
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification
• ACLS (American Heart Association) certification
• NIHSS Certification
