Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Night shifts)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (night shift)
• Experience Required: Minimum 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Licensure: Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
• Certifications Required:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Additional Requirements:

  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test must be passed during orientation
  • PBDS Assessment waived

Required Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
• Minimum Years of Experience: 18 months (1.5 years) permanent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Competencies

• Mandatory Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Testing:

  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication SafeMedicate testing during orientation
• Competency Exams:

  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually

Licensure & Background Checks

• Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license
• Background check required prior to start and must be updated annually
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
• Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
• Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
• Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months and updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Onboarding & Orientation

• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Modules include safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific training
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate testing
• Candidates must complete all onboarding modules before clearance to start
• Candidates returning with less than 6 months gap may have some requirements waived

Additional Requirements

• Must carry government-issued photo ID during assignment
• Must submit 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
• Must work at least every other holiday

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, comfortable with night shifts and travel assignments, and able to meet comprehensive health, background, and competency requirements.
